Hey guys! You probably remember how much I loved Caraval and Legendary, I was carried away by the vivid and dream-like world created by Stephanie Meyer. Through the trilogy, our story became darker and darker… and in Finale, the game comes to an end!
A love worth fighting for. A dream worth dying for. An ending worth waiting for.
It’s been two months since the Fates were freed from a deck of cards, two months since Legend claimed the throne for his own, and two months since Tella discovered the boy she fell in love with doesn’t really exist.
With lives, empires, and hearts hanging in the balance, Tella must decide if she’s going to trust Legend or a former enemy. After uncovering a secret that upends her life, Scarlett will need to do the impossible. And Legend has a choice to make that will forever change and define him.
Caraval is over, but perhaps the greatest game of all has begun. There are no spectators this time: only those who will win and those who will lose everything.
Welcome, welcome to Finale. All games must come to an end. . .
The Final game is deadly
In Caraval, everything was beautiful if a little bit scary, it was a real game and we were swept away by the magic. In Legendary, another game begin, but reality mixed into it and new characters came to play: the Fates. And these are REALLY scary people. Their games are ones of life and death… more often death! Our characters kept their life, but it cost them much! And we are here, in Finale, starting the most dangerous game of them all, the one that could bring an Empire to disaster! The Fates are free and they want revenge! And it’s not gonna be pretty…
In the middle of all that, we have our favorite sisters, Scarlett and Tella, trying to sort out their sentimental life, the return of their mother and secrets from the past coming to shatter everything they believed in! Add to that a city full of magic, Fated Places, illusions, and blood pacts, and you’ll have a good idea of what is going on!
If sometimes I thought the resolution or acceptation of facts came a bit too quickly, I still adored going back to the world of Caraval, with its so unique magic and bright characters!
A vibrant and lush writing
Stephanie’s Garber writing is not for everyone, I know that. But it works great for me! I love reading about men looking like lost wishes and Stardust (or anything like that, I’m not picky!). It’s so visual for me, but it also calls to other senses like scent or taste, and I love how it makes me feel as a reader. It really helps me imagine the world of Caraval, with all its color and magic. I’ve actually never been able to see magic as well as I do with Garber’s books! It’s a great pleasure for me to dive in such a world, as I feel really immersed in it. Between Legend’s illusions, Tella’s enamored descriptions and the CRAZY gowns (please I want one like Scarlett!!), it really felt like I could touch the magic!
“Tonight he was smiling like a wicket prince, escaped from the stars, ready to spirit her up into the heavens.”
In a few words
I was one more transported by the magic of Garber’s word and of Caraval’s characters. If I wished some elements were taken more into considerations, it was still a very distractive and beautiful read! And we get a true ending… or is there such thing?
See you for a cup,
