Hey guys! This week Top Ten Tuesday will be a Top Five for me! Maybe I’m picky… but there are not a lot of authors who are auto-buy for me… I’ll be interested if I see some names, and yes 99% sure if Bardugo or Schwab write something I’ll buy it BUT if we talk about authors I’ll buy not even knowing what the book is about… we are talking about a very select club!
- Neil Gaiman: I don’t care what he writes about, I know I’ll love it! From the first book I read from him (The Ocean at the end of the lane – still my fav), I was sure he could not disappoint! Since then, my Gaiman collection is growing, I just want them all!
- Roshani Chokshi: I fell in love with her writing with the Star-touched Queen and since then, I see her name I buy. Just like that.
- Laini Taylor: You must be tired of me repeating how much I loved Daughter of Smoke and Bone. The magic in the words! The beauty in the sentences! I can’t get enough! So if I see Laini, I must read!
Me reading DOSAB
- Rick Riordan: He is this huge author and it’s not for nothing. I’ve read Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus and started Magnus Chase. But even before that, right after reading my first Percy Jackson, I started buying the entire series… and all the others I could find! It’s always a hit!
- Jay Kristoff: I LOVED Illuminae, and after that, I was so impressed with Lifel1k3… I realized Kristoff has a talent for plot twists and surprising me. So now, I want to read everything he writes!

Nothing wrong with having a small group of auto buy authors! I really like Neil Gaiman’s writing but I haven’t read all of his books (yet!).

I’ve never read Gaiman, weirdly enough, but his book Norse Mythology is on my list. I was always kinda interested in Stardust also.

I struggled a bit to come up with ten auto-buy authors, too, but now I see your list I see I could have added both Gaiman and Riordan. I’m going to check out some of the others on your list.

I actually only have two for-sure auto-buy authors. It could get expensive otherwise! I do love Laini Taylor’s prose… it’s so beautiful. I have yet to read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, but I did buy it when it was on sale a while back.

I love that Roshani is on your list! She’s such an amazing writer. Rick Riordan is really an author I need to give a go. The books seem amazing!

YES she is! And Rick Riordan… it’s middle grade but is great no matter how old you are!

I am adding The Ocean at the end of the lane to my TBR, I’ve only read Good omens so far (and btw, I loved the serie about it). I definitely want to read DOSAB (I loved Strange the dreamer, so I will for sure go on with Laini Taylor). I haven’t read Rick Riordan yet (😱😱 😮😳) and I guess there is nothing I can say in my defense … As for me, I would say Robin Hobb, Lisa See, and … I don’t know who else, I guess I am a bit picky too :p

I’m the same way. Besides, I’ve been spoiled on so many authors over the years, that I tend to be more cautious these days. That said, I love Neil Gaiman!

Such an awesome list! Gaiman made it onto mine and I want to collect all his books too 😃 Sometimes I wonder if the first Gaiman book people read will always be their fave? Neverwhere was my first and still absolute fave! Love the other authors you’ve listed too.

Gaiman is kind of hit and miss for me. Some of his books I love, others are just not my thing. I’ve only read THE LIGHTNING THIEF by Riordan. I haven’t read the others on your list. *Sigh* So many books, so little time …

Yes to all of these!! I should have put Neil Gaiman on my list. He is brilliant. Pure brilliance. That being said, I’m super excited to start reading more by Rick Riordan and Jay Kristoff. I’ve only recently started to dive into both of their works.
